10 must-have baby registry items

I don’t want every intro to be the equivalent of trying to find a recipe and hearing how the person discovered sauce while studying abroad in Rome back in 2001. So just know I have two small kids, have been to countless baby showers, and this is what I think you “need”. Pro tip: Register on Babylist.

  1. Nanit Baby Monitor

Why? The technology is great and the app also provides you with tips and tricks for best sleeping practices.

Bonus: You can use the camera and pop in on this base for travel.

  1. Hatch sound machine

Why? I’m sure there’s other great ones, but this is by far the most popular due to the sound and color options.

Bonus: The newest version has a clock on the base. You’ll need this when you don’t know up from down 😉

  1. DockATot Snuggle Me Infant Lounger

Why? In those first months, you just need a lot of places for the baby to relax. Our daughter lived in the Dock A Tot, but I know it has been discontinued in the U.S. so try the Snuggle Me which is a similar product.

Bonus: You also “need” the Baby Bjorn bouncer.

  1. Love to Dream Swaddles

Why? Because I never learned the fancier swaddling techniques.

Bonus: More affordable than competing options and easy for anyone to use!

  1. Pampers

Why? I tried most diaper options and really wanted to be an Honest diaper mom, but Pampers really do reign supreme for softness and protection.

Bonus: More affordable than competing options and easy for anyone to use!

  1. Stuffed Animal

Why? Self-explanatory. Get your sweet baby a stuffed animal!

Bonus: We loved the Jellycat brand and take “LaMonkey” everywhere.

  1. Sick Day Prep Kit

Why? Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready!

Bonus: It comes with a Snotsucker which sounds gross, but is so helpful on congested days.

8. Playmat

Why? For all that tummy time practice.

Bonus:We did get the Loveevery one too, but I liked having an easy fold up one with zero fuss that I can move easily around the house.

  1. Stroller – Doona:

Why? It’s tricky at first, but then it is so easy to use on the go – great for everyday use and travel.

Bonus: You can hold out on buying a car seat for a little while (we got a standalone car seat when our daughter turned 1)

  1. Inglesina fast table chair

Why? This is ultra-light, collapsible and easy to carry. I loved it because our baby could always be included in our conversations (listen at least) instead of being on the floor or in the stroller if we weren’t at home.

Bonus: You can travel with it or bring it to restaurants instead of needing to find a highchair.
